ARCHITECTURAL STYLE
A large number of buildings at La Roma depict a series of architectural styles from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, from Art Nouveau or Modernism to Art Deco, many of them declared Cultural Heritage by the National Institute of Fine Arts. This architectural eclecticism gives La Roma a particular feel and makes walking or strolling around the neighborhood a true delight.
Many of its buildings, carefully restored, include:
CASA LAMM CULTURAL CENTER
Once the residence of a prominent Mexican family, today Casa Lamm is an important cultural center with galleries, a restaurant, a book store and its own art school.
RÍO DE JANEÍRO BUILDING (HOUSE OF THE WITCHES)
A neighborhood landmark, it overlooks a beautiful park bearing the same name. It is popularly referred to as the "Witch House".
BALMORI BUILDING
Built in 1922, this magnificent French-style building is now a luxurious residential and commercial street corner on the busy Álvaro Obregón Avenue.
